WE AIM
• To promote intelligent, informed and sustainable consumer practices among women and young ladies
• To educate women and young ladies in the lost sustainable crafts of knitting, sewing and the repair and alteration of clothing and furniture
• To promote and market local designers that use recycled materials, wise packaging and sustainable craft practices
• To provide a network of resources to nurture creativity that transforms the worthless ‘stuff’ around us into collective objects of meaning
• To provide information regarding the truth about the desire to own things and the drive to contribute actively to a capitalist consumer culture that is ultimately destructive
• To provide truthful information regarding deceptive marketing and advertising practices used against women in the mainstream media

• Wearing your clothes till they wear out. Mending, sewing and alteration
• Buying second hand clothes, furniture and books
• Supporting and buying from local designers that use recycled materials, wise packaging and sustainable craft practices
• Learning how to sew, knit, upholster, darn, patch and/or building a network of contacts who can
• Re-thinking the value of ‘stuff’, understanding the truth about your relationship with the objects around you
• Nurturing the transformative nature of sustainable creativity within you
• Opposing a throw-away, disposable culture
• Refusing excess packaging
• Seeing everything around you as stuff you ‘consume’. Images, words, conversations, food, coercive advertising, everything you pick up and throw away. Being mindful of where it came from and where it goes after it serves your purpose
